Sand – Willi Tomes

This new series started with my 10 years collection of used sandpaper and leather fragments. The plan was to combine it with vinyl on aludibond. During the work process I decided to skip the vinyl and use canvas as backgound. The basic idea was to avoid content and getting leaded by the material. During the work process elements of landscape and figures appeared that I kept sometimes.

Aus meiner Sammlung von zerstörten Sandpapierresten und Lederfragmenten aus den letzten 10 Jahren entstand diese neue Serie. Der ursprüngliche Plan war die Kombination mit Vinylsplittern auf Aludibond. Im Arbeitsprozess ließ ich dann bei den meisten Bildern das Vinyl weg und stieg auf Leinwände als Untergrund um. Die Grundidee war bildliche Inhalte zu vermeiden und sich vom Material leiten zu lassen. Im Arbeitsprozess ergaben sich aber dann oft landschaftliche und figurative Formen, die ich partiell erhalten habe
